2007 Grants and Scholarships
The Community Foundation of the Virginias, Inc., awarded a total of 37 grants and scholarships to charitable organizations in Mercer County, West Virginia and Tazewell County, Virginia in 2005. These awards, in the amount of $46,700.07, represent the Foundation’s ninth annual grants cycle in support of area non-profit groups that strive to meet changing needs of our society.
The Grants Committee, chaired by Betty Gardner Bailey, is composed of ten members who have the responsibility of evaluating all grant requests and allocating funds according to need. Grants totaling $27,150 were awarded this year from requests amounting to more than $66,000.
